I am going to run a 5k

I believe that if you publicly declare a goal, you’re more likely to achieve it. So, Internet, listen up: I will RUN a 5k this Summer.

{crickets, crickets}

No, really, I swear.

I, Margie Newman, will RUN a 5K.

Dave used one of the Couch to 5k apps for his training and it worked for him. Also, my friend Ashley used a similar app to train early on and she recently RAN a half marathon!

I’m excited and a little nervous; I’m not a runner! But tonight, I’m proud to say, I completed Day 1 of the Ease into 5K eight week program:

Bonus: this new project is a great excuse to purchase cute gear, new ear buds and better shoes. So I’ve got that going for me, which is nice. If you’ve got favorite gear, feel free to share it in the comments.

  1. Man, oh man do I have gear suggestions for you – -but it depends where you’re running. I have a handheld water bottle I love. And some different apps on my phone that rock my socks off.

    Anyone can run with any sort of gear, but if you want to give yourself the best shot, invest in good sneakers (and go get fitted for them at a running store. They’ll be expensive, but when they wear out you know what kind works for you and you can find them for less on Amazon.) and spend the rest on a kick ass sports bra. SERIOUSLY. The girls need as much love as your feet. I’m a big fan of Moving Comfort’s stuff. They = the bomb.

    Also, get a nice non-cotton pair of socks or two. 🙂

    HAPPY TRAILS! I’m so proud of you.

  2. Lululemon and Athleta have the cutest – and most comfortable – running gear. The stuff is a little pricey, but it lasts. If you’re new to running, definitely visit Pacers or PRR for a good shoe fit. I personally love Brooks – best running shoe I’ve ever worn. Good luck with your training! Who knows, maybe I can convince you to write something for my blog. ;^)

    PS – your daughter is super cute and a carbon copy of your husband. Those Newman genes are strong!

  3. I highly recommend Nike’s Running skirt. I love it and very cute/sassy! I a 1/2 marathon a few years ago! Good luck girl, you will love it!!
